Hi Guys -Thanks for visiting, unfortunately we are not operating from Aug 2019 to Dec 2020 due to other commitments. Apologies but do keep us in mind after that. We do still have the bikes, gear & knowledge so if you are really desperate drop us a line and we may be able to assist.

Cruise passengers just get off the ship, jump on one of our late model dual sport adventure bikes and let us show you around.  Tour leaves from the wharf when you get off the tender and will return you to Akaroa around 3-4pm.   All necessary gear provided (incl riding gear, fuel & refreshments).  Check the tour out below.

Maximum of four riders per tour and your guide on a fifth motorcycle.  Pillions OK.

Tours are fully customisable for rider ability, and can be entirely sealed roads if you prefer.  Bikes are Suzuki DR650s, we can lower the bikes to 845mm seat height for shorter riders.  We also have a funky Royal Enfield Himalayan that is even lower (800mm).

Riders must hold a current motorcycle licence (Restricted, Learners, international licences OK).

IMPORTANT: If you book online you need to book the tour PLUS A PICK UP FROM AKAROA.  Otherwise we will assume you will be making your own way to/from the ship to our Birdlings Flat base.

Costs $NZ: 290 per person, 50 per pillion

Cruise Ship Crew Member?  Get a crew of 4 together and we will do special rates and deals just for you guys to suit your time on shore -talk to us via Email Direct link below.

Southern Bays Tour

Isolation, Views and Cheese

After a pickup at the wharf and 40 minute scenic drive to our home base at Birdlings Flat, we will get you suited up and ready to go.  A bit of practice on local gravel tracks to get the feel of the bikes and then it is up the road to Little River and on to the iconic Hilltop Hotel for a first photo stop.  Your local guide will stop at all the best spots and provide fascinating comentary as you go. Lunch stop is at Duvauchelle looking back up the harbour, then if you like to the cheese factory at Barrys Bay where you can sample the cheese while watching it being made.  Head around Akaroa Harbour to Wainui on the opposite side of the harbour from Akaroa for a great view of your ship. Then we head offroad up to the top of the Southern crater rim for magnificent views of Akaroa Harbour, the Southern Bays & Pacific Ocean.  Take in sweeping vistas of the Peninsula, Kaitorete Spit, out over the Canterbury Plains and all the way to the Southern Alps and Seaward Kaikouras.  Look out for road going sheep or cows as we go.  Time permitting we will take a run down into the gorgeous Tumbledown Bay where there are normally more seals than people in the water, before heading back to base and getting you back to the wharf on time.
