Banks Peninsula Experience came about from dreams of what we really wanted to do with our days. We are a family of motorcycle enthusiasts, if we are not out riding the highways, we are riding off road together or more than likely having a family day at the race track with the race bikes. With a passion for Banks Peninsula, having made it our home since 1999, what better to do then than running a home based adventure motorcycle hire business at Birdlings Flat.
A couple of years of planning later and here we are. When you are dealing with us, you are dealing with the owners so whatever the issue is, we can put it right.
My son and I hired two Suzuki DR650s from Matt for a week. The bikes were in excellent condition and Matt could not have done more to help us to have a safe and very enjoyable week.
We did a trip through the Molesworth and Rainbow stations. We took a small tent, sleeping bags and minimal clothing and we had the best week ever!
I would recommend this company to anyone wanting to have an adventure around the South Island on bikes. -Paul & Tom
We are a couple from Malta in Europe we have a amazing day .Matt was a fantastic guide he show us very nice views great local knowledge. We have very nice experience thanks Matt -Josette & Mario
Matt took three of us out for an incredible tour of the Banks Peninsula. None of us had experience riding off sealed roads and he helped us get to grips with the DR650s on loose gravel before we did a tour of the Banks Peninsula headland. He was happy to take us out with no off-road experience and led us at a comfortable pace. Great day and some amazing riding with spectacular views. -Buckno
Great day with Matt, thank you so much! Great mixture of gravel and sealed roads, and an awesome guide :) -Toni
Amazing day looking around Banks Peninsula. Matt was a fantastic guide and the bikes suited the mix of gravel and sealed roads perfectly. I will be back!! -Grant
Had a great day riding the Royal Enfield. Lots of amazing views and some great riding. Great local knowledge and interesting guide. An amazing way to spend time on a bike. -Ian S
My friend and I had a half day with Matt on the Suzuki DR650's. It has been about 30 years since we had both ridden motorbikes so Matt gave us a very gentle introduction, and some coaching in different terrain to improve our skills and familiarise us with motorbike riding again. Then we set off on a tour of quiet sealed and gravel roads with amazing scenery and views. Matt was happy to chug along at our slower pace. He gave us good encouragement and support especially for the last wee stretch across soft gravel. We really enjoyed ourselves, thought it was good value for money and found Matt to be both great company and tour guide. -Leanne K
I met up with Matt, who was a real sport considering the weather. It wasn't the best day for riding however we hopped on the bikes, me on the new Royal Infield and him on the Suzuki, and headed out for a short ride. I was quite time poor however the ride was brilliant. With the drizzly weather, and me lacking a little confidence, we stuck to the sealed roads. Akaroa is an absolutely stunning place. I'm going to go back and hopefully hit some fine weather so we can head off the beaten track to see parts that are hidden to the average tourist. I highly recommend contacting Matt and seeing what he can offer to fit in with your schedule! -Leen
Woow ... I Got "Henry" the "Enfield" a cool little beast a pleasure on the tarmac an animal with lots of courage on the shingle a great bike for an even greater experience .. such history .. fantastic Vista's .. even better crazy roads with a little "Off - Road" thrown in just for fun .. Henry made it .. some of the 650's had to have a little help .. with a shower of shingle as they were pushed the last 50 metres .. what a great day ... Thanks Matt .. hope to get back and do it again someday!!!! -Bob T
The Banks Peninsula is stunning and it begs to be seen from the the panoramic views of a motorcycle! I had a spectacular ride on a DR 650, guided by the business owner Matt. The bike had lots of power and great handling; Matt was a knowledge and professional guide; and, the scenery of lush rolling hills and the turquoise Pacifc ocean have still got me in awe -SqueekyShoes
